Annual FAI International Aviation Art Contest
Posted on Fri, Jan 18, 2013
Entries Due Monday January 28th, 2013
For the past 24 years, the Fédération Aéronautique
Internationale (FAI) has sponsored the International Aviation Art Contest, inviting young people around the world to express the importance of aviation through art. Each FAI member country sponsors the contest in their respective country and then submits national winners to the FAI International Jury each year for final selection of overall first, second and third place winners.
Inspiring Children of All Ages
By illustrating the impact of aeronautics through art, the contest inspires children of all ages to become more interested in the areas of aeronautics, engineering and science.
The U.S. portion of the contest is supported by the National Aeronautic Association (NAA), managed by the NASAO Center for Aviation Research and Education and sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautic University - Prescott, Ken Cook Co., the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Coalition for Aviation and Space Education with additional support from NASAO members.
All children between the ages of 6 and 17 are encouraged to participate!
Age groups are divided into three categories: Group I, the Junior Category, includes those born between January 1st, 2003 and December 31st, 2006. Group II, the Intermediate Category, includes those born between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 2002. Group III, the Senior Category, includes those born between January 1st, 1995 and December 31st 1998.
State-level Recognition
Entries in each age group will be judged for creative interpretation of this year’s theme—“My Favorite Air Sport”—and winners as well as runners up will be selected for each state. Winners will receive a special certificate and recognition from their state and the top three entries in each age group will be forwarded to Washington, D.C. for participation in the nationwide competition.
National & International Honors
National recognition will be awarded to first, second and third place winners in each age group and winners at this level will receive certificates, ribbons and a framed reproduction of their submitted artwork.
The top three winners in each age group will then be forwarded to the FAI for international judging and final winners of the international competition will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals for first, second and third place respectively.
