Piper Aircraft, Inc. has received Type Certificate approval from the FAA for incorporation of the Garmin G1000 integrated avionics suite into new single-engine Piper Archer aircraft available in 2013.
Said Piper President and CEO, Simon Caldecott, “With this milestone approval from the FAA, the G1000 Archer will be able to put flight-critical data at the finger tips of future Archer pilots.”
The state-of-the-art G1000 is Garmin’s most advanced avionics suite and replaces the G500 suite found in current Piper Archer models.
The G1000 will enable Piper Archer pilots to quickly scan and assess flight information more easily than ever before by presenting all primary flight information—including navigation and traffic data, communications, weather, terrain awareness, engine instruments and more—in an optimally arranged, all-glass avionics panel.
G1000's large-format, high-resolution displays and intuitive design will bring new levels of situational awareness, simplicity and safety to the cockpit.
Advanced AHRS Architecture
The G1000 also incorporates Garmin’s powerful GRS77 Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) in place of more traditional mechanical flight instruments, delivering precise digital output and referencing of aircraft position, rate, vector and acceleration data – with outstanding accuracy.
“The G1000 is a highly capable flight deck perfectly suited for basic through advanced flight training…” said Carl Wolf, Garmin’s vice president of aviation sales and marketing. “We’re thrilled that as a result of this program, more new pilots will have the opportunity to learn to fly behind an all-glass flight deck.”
