This year, for the first time in its 75-year history, the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) is hosting regional fly-ins at a number of airports across the nation.
Representing hundreds of thousands of members, Maryland-based AOPA is among the largest general aviation associations in the world, with a mission to educate pilots and non-pilots alike and promote the long-term health and safety of general aviation as an activity to be shared by all.
This year’s fly-ins will offer a full day of aviation related activities and fun for individuals and families alike, with an opportunity to meet with key AOPA leaders, explore exhibits, attend seminars, make new acquaintances and more.
Open to both members and non-members, the AOPA Plymouth Municipal Airport (KPYM/PYM) fly-in is scheduled to take place Saturday, July 12th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no charge for admission and lunch is free for all AOPA members and their immediate families (spouse and children).
Traditional Pancake Breakfast
Those arriving early in the day will enjoy an all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast, served from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
This enjoyable morning kickoff provides the opportunity to get to know other aviation enthusiasts, mingle with AOPA staff, feast on pancakes and fill your tank with coffee – all for a nominal fee of $5.00 per person.
Exhibits & Aircraft Displays
Opening at 9:00 a.m. and available throughout the day, product exhibitors from some of aviation’s top manufacturers and suppliers will be on hand to introduce new products, demonstrate the latest technologies, and discuss your piloting needs. You’ll also have the opportunity to test products, ask questions and make purchases.
On-site Static Aircraft displays will include Aviat Aircraft, Cessna Pilots Society, Cirrus Aircraft, Flying Musicians Association, Mooney Ambassadors, NexAir Avionics, and others.
Free Lunch for Members & Their Families
Beginning at 11:30 a.m., all AOPA members and their immediate families will enjoy a complimentary lunch gathering, complete with live entertainment, the chance to get to know other pilots and aviation enthusiasts—and enjoy a great meal together!
Non-members can purchase lunch for $10 (per individual). And for those wishing to join AOPA, a special fly-in discount is currently available allowing new members to join for an annual rate of $40!
Afternoon seminars, clinics and safety briefings, presented by some of aviation’s best known experts, will cover a range of topics from aircraft maintenance and safety to FAA rules and regulations, radio communications, and more.
Informative presentations and open discussions are a sure way to become a more knowledgeable pilot, improve your flying—and safety.
Later in the day, at 2:45 p.m., a Pilot Town Hall session with AOPA President, Mark Baker will address the most important issues facing general aviation today with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.
