Piper Aircraft has begun deliveries of its much anticipated Piper M600 aircraft after reaching its last production milestone—receipt of its final Type Certification from FAA. In celebration of its first customer delivery, the company held a special ceremony at its world headquarters in Vero Beach, Florida in July, where long-time Piper aircraft owners, Jerry and Jack Wardlaw, received the first official customer delivery.
As reported by Piper, the Wardlaw’s first aircraft was a Piper Archer, soon replaced by a Piper Saratoga, and later followed by a Meridian. More recently the couple owned an M500 which has now been succeeded by the new M600. The pair will base their new plane in Southern Georgia and plan to use it for both business and personal travel.
Said Piper President and CEO, Simon Caldecott, “Today’s delivery marks another significant achievement in the M600 Program and our journey to bring new value to the single engine turbo prop market. We are excited to begin deliveries of the M600 less than one month after receiving Type Certification from the FAA, fulfilling Piper’s commitment to developing and manufacturing premium aircraft of exceptional value which consistently exceed our customer’s expectations,"
Power & Range
The beautifully designed M600 is Piper's most advanced and capable M-class aircraft to date. With its powerful Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A turbo prop engine−flat rated at 600 SHP−the powerful six-place aircraft attains a maximum speed of 274 ktas / 507 km/h at maximum available power settings. Combined with its max range of 1,484 nm / 2,748 km at intermediate cruise settings, the aircraft delivers the power and range to meet a wide range of personal and business missions. Industry Leading Avionics
Featuring Garmin G3000, Garmin's most advanced general aviation (GA) avionics suite available today, M600 brings industry leading intuitiveness and powerful, sophisticated avionics capabilities to the cockpit.
With G3000, Garmin has replaced the clutter of mechanical buttons, knobs and selector switches with a clean, user-friendly pilot interface and streamlined menu structures presented in an innovative touchscreen-controlled glass flight deck. The advanced avionics suite delivers user-friendly, efficient flight deck management - improving safety and reducing pilot workload.
From control of radios, audio and intercom channels to transponder codes, mapping, charts, flight plan entry and system set up, all have been markedly simplified and ergonomically designed for the pilot. And with dual GTC 570 controllers, pilots enjoy a centralized point of access for the bulk of avionics tuning, selection and data inputs.
The addition of Garmin’s Synthetic Vision Technology raises situational awareness to the next level. Acquiring information from multiple certified databases and delivering reliable, graphical depiction of obstacles, terrain, water, and airports the system provides pilots with invaluable information for better decision-making and safer missions. The M600 also boasts enhanced safety attributes including Emergency Descent Mode, Electronic Stability Protection (ESP), Underspeed / Overspeed Protection, and Level Mode.
The Most Luxurious Cabin Yet
M600’s all-new, reimagined interior is a lesson in elegance, extraordinary in both function and feel. With its updated aesthetics, improved ergonomics and advanced technologies, the new Piper M600 aircraft redefines comfort and ease. Interior features include ergonomically designed seats - optimized for comfort and enhanced side panels designed to deliver improved functionality and an intuitive passenger interface.
Additionally three new color palettes have been unveiled, all offering an unexpected step up in elegance and sophistication. Outfitted in premium leather with high-end trim throughout the cabin, the M600 is elegant and inviting.
Piper employed a comprehensive survey process to help identify the features and attributes that would be considered most desirable by both pilots and passengers. They listened – and delivered.
Other updates including USB charging ports, executive folding tables, and folding seats bring additional functionality, convenience and ease to the cabin.
Said Keith Douglass, President, Shoreline Aviation, “The M600 demonstrates Piper’s commitment to the single engine turboprop market. In addition to all its other new features, this exceptional aircraft offers more power and significantly increased range. It offers pilots an exciting step up from the M500.”
Added Douglass, “We’re thrilled to continue our role as a sales and service affiliate of the Piper Aircraft Distributor for New England, New York and New Jersey with the opportunity to help pilots enjoy the full M-Class line-up.”
The 2016 M600 is listed at a competitive price of $2.853 million.
