Moving his career to Shoreline Aviation was much akin to going home again. Peter Wood used to live in Massachusetts but had been living and working in Colorado for years. Wanting to return to the Bay State opened the door to his landing at Shoreline.

An opening for his services in charter sales and aircraft management allowed the opportunity to return here to play out for him and his wife, who share two daughters and two grandchildren. Peter’s longtime career in the business brings a wealth of experience to the Shoreline team.

Peter is not a pilot, but he was an Air Force brat.

“I’ve been around airplanes all my life,” he said. “I’ve always enjoyed that atmosphere. My father was a weatherman for the Air Force. When we were stationed at Edwards Air Force Base (in California) and over in London, we always watched planes coming and going. And up the street from us was a small airport where we’d watch the planes come and go. I’ve found it fascinating since childhood.”

Peter also served in the military. He was a helicopter mechanic in the Army, and then focused his education in sales courses, especially with Dale Carnegie. He had previously worked in the industry in New England for 10 years, including a stint in Plymouth. He worked with the aircraft management company Corporate Wings early in his career.

“I got out of the service in 1984, started with Corporate Wings, and got into the sales side of it,” Peter said.

Fast forward about 30 years, when Peter saw a recent job posting for this position with Shoreline, located at Marshfield Municipal Airport. “I spoke with Keith (Shoreline President Keith Douglass), and it seemed like a very good match.”

Shoreline Aviation manages the airport for the town. The company provides aviation services including fueling, overnight aircraft parking, aircraft maintenance, aircraft sales and acquisition, aircraft management, and charter flights, since 1981. Shoreline has been under current ownership and management for 37 years.

Peter says he brings decades of pertinent experience to the position. “I’ve been doing this kind of work for 40 years,” he said. “I want to help grow the fleet, by working with different clientele and especially with folks in the area who are purchasing aircraft and need a management company. I show them the many benefits of working with Shoreline.”

Although Peter has 40 years in the business, he says he’s always learning something new. “Here, it’s about learning what Keith has built for a company and being able to project that out to the clientele,” he said. “His vision and value to a person’s purchase of an aircraft is about finding the right fit. It’s our job to keep the fleet moving, between charter quoting and identifying leads to work on the aircraft management side.”

Meanwhile, he and his wife are searching for a new home in the area. And in between his time at the airport, Peter has those precious grandkids to focus on.

“I’m into whatever the grandkids are into,” he said. “It’s all about taking care of family.”
