Future Career Takes Flight for MHS Senior

This time of year, many high school seniors are finishing up coursework, sitting in class and counting down the days until graduation; MHS Senior Aidan Clougherty, meanwhile, can be found at the Marshfield Airport each day, getting a taste of the field he hopes to have a career in.

his time of year, many high school seniors are finishing up coursework, sitting in class and counting down the days until graduation; MHS Senior Aidan Clougherty, meanwhile, can be found at the Marshfield Airport each day, getting a taste of the field he hopes to have a career in.

Clougherty hopes to go into the U.S. Navy after he graduates from MHS next month with dreams of working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. After applying to the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce Internship program, the airport agreed to take him on as an intern, the first time they’ve done so.

“It’s such an amazing opportunity,” Clougherty said. “When I first heard about it, I didn’t want to do an internship, but being able to get out of school and be outside and work with your hands is something I love, especially working on something so cool.”

Airport Manager David Dinneen said Clougherty fit right in.

“He’s a star,” Dinneen said. “He’s one of those kids that, if he wasn’t going in the direction that he’s going, we’d ask him to stay on and work as a line guy, he’s that good.”
