Med Flight transports injured person from Marshfield Airport

Med Flight from Marshfield

Marshfield Municipal Airport was the scene Wednesday afternoon of the Med Flight transport of a local person who suffered an injury at home.

“We had a medical incident in town and determined Med Flight was necessary,” said Marshfield Fire Department Shift Commander Capt. Craig Robinson. “We determined the airport was the best location, given the proximity. We were glad for that, as it’s so open and secure.”

Airport fixed base operator Shoreline Aviation ensured a clear ramp area for the operation.

Robinson said Boston Med Flight was requested for transport, and the helicopter arrived from Plymouth Airport with an 18-minute response time. Plymouth is a base for Boston Med Flight, covering emergency transport service for Southeastern Massachusetts.

MFD fielded two ambulances and two engines initially, to ensure securing the location for the helicopter to land, Robinson said, after which an ambulance and engine were released back into town service.

The flight went to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

“Everything worked flawlessly,” Robinson said. “It was an easy landing, an easy takeoff, an easy operation.”
