Nantucket named a top East Coast fall destination – Shoreline can get you there!

Want the perfect coastal fall getaway? Ask Condé Nast Traveler, and the esteemed travel magazine will recommend Nantucket – a regular destination of Shoreline Aviation charter clients.
In an August article titled “These East Coast Beach Towns are Even Better in the Fall,” the magazine names Nantucket along with Kennebunkport, Maine, North Fork, Long Island, and five other destinations.
“The best time to hit the beach is actually in September, right at the onset of shoulder season – when the weather gets a bit milder, the crowds flee, and the pace of life mellows down,” the article reads. “Fall is a particularly magical time on the East Coast, when lighthouse lookouts and cliffside walks are bathed in autumnal hues.”
“Nantucketers refer to September and early October as the ‘locals’ summer,’” the magazine says.
“There are a lot of things to love about the island in the fall – temperatures that sit around the 65-degree mark, and scallop season, to name a few. Take the Sconset Bluff Walk to Sankaty Lighthouse to see the coastal scenery in a different light, surrounded by golden beachgrass.”
And they suggest bicycle rides along the trails of the Middle Moors, a visit to the iconic Bartlett’s Farm, catching the Nantucket Conservation Foundation’s Fall Festival in October, and perhaps a stay at Greydon House, in the center of town, “a forever favorite.” Also, the Wauwinet Hotel, founded in 1875 and neighboring Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge at the northeast end of the island, offers 20% off on fall stays in 2025, the magazine says.
Whatever your inspiration, you’ll find comfort in relying on Shoreline Aviation to get you to Nantucket – or to Kennebunkport or North Fork – at a time and from an airport that suits you.
