Travis Barth drops anchor at Shoreline Aviation

Little did he know that when his dad introduced him to remote control planes he was looking at his future.
Longtime aviation professional Travis Barth has joined Shoreline Aviation Inc. to work in charter sales and flight logistics. Travis – originally from the Midwest and lately a Duxbury, Massachusetts, resident – joined the fixed base operator of Marshfield Municipal Airport in September.
Shoreline has been managing the airport for the town of Marshfield for 44 years, 37 years under current ownership.
Travis, who holds a BS degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, shares his home with his wife (an advertising sales director), two sons, and two dogs. He also minored in Aviation Safety at Embry Riddle. And he holds a private pilot certificate with an instrument rating, earned at Sporty’s Academy flight school in Ohio.
Travis began his college career largely focused on athletics, especially track and field and football, at Marietta College in Ohio. “When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me out on the boat in Hingham Harbor, camping, biking, or turning a wrench on something that probably didn’t need fixing,” the outdoors enthusiast said.
But then his vocational aspirations came into sight.
“Then I decided to go into aviation,” he said. “Dad got me flying RC model planes. So, yeah, I wanted to be a pilot. I started training at Sporty’s flight school. I wanted to be a professional pilot and fly commercial.”
He switched to the University of Cincinnati and studied Aviation Technology. Learning the lifestyle of the professional pilot, he decided that was not for him, and he ended up going to work at Executive Jet Management, a NetJets company based in Cincinnati. A good move, as it turned out. He not only rose through the ranks in flight operations and owner services, he had the good fortune to meet his future wife there.
“We literally met in the hallway at EJM,” Travis said. “She was from Connecticut, and when we got serious and began some long term-planning, we wanted to be near her family. In 2013 we got married and moved from Cincinnati to Quincy, where I worked for Sentient Jet.”

Moving their way a bit closer to family, the Barths relocated to Hanover and then to Duxbury – Shoreline Aviation country. Travis was familiar with Shoreline through Sentient.
“What Shoreline is doing is unique,” Travis said. “It operates all departments – charter, maintenance, aircraft management, flight training, FBO services. I was very intrigued with Shoreline.”
He established contact with the company. “I sent them my resume and said if anything opens up to please call me. I saw the airport sign on the highway one day and that prompted me to call them back, to stay in touch, just as an opening came up. I met with Keith (Shoreline President Keith Douglass), toured the airport with him, came back for another conversation – and here I am!”
Travis is quickly learning the ropes as he adjusts to his new professional environment.
“I want to get to know the aircraft owners, to make sure we have their interests as priority,” he said. “I’d like to help grow the fleet, as it makes sense. Being able to offer a hyper premium product, to be the best we can be.”
Travis believes the sum of his experience can help Shoreline to grow.
“I’ve been in the cockpit of a flight trainer,” he said. “I began my career with a large aircraft management company. Then I worked for a charter broker for a long time, but we didn’t control the product; it was rare to even talk to the pilots. I had the urge to get back with an aircraft operator. The jets are on our charter certificate, the pilots work here, so we control the product. I believe I have the insight to help accomplish objectives. And I have a decade of managing people. I don’t have employees now, but I can leverage that experience when the time comes.”
Travis doesn’t see any more relocations on his horizon.
“I want to work here until I retire,” he said. “I’m profoundly grateful to Keith and the rest of the team for this opportunity. There’s a lot of opportunity here. A lot of long-term opportunity.”
