We're pleased to report the Marshfield Airport Commission and Shoreline’s Airport Management Team have made significant strides toward moving forward with the construction of a new runway and taxiway system in 2013. For the past several years, we've worked to pave the way for these updates which will bring the airport into compliance with new FAA airport safety and design standards. Recently we've achieved several milestones towards this end.
Safety Improvements for Marshfield Airport (GHG)
Marshfield Municipal Airport (GHG), also known as George Harlow Airfield, is a general aviation airport first established in 1948 when it was nothing more than a small farm with an airstrip out back. In fact, the current terminal building was once a barn! A portion of the original structure including its wooden ceiling beams were preserved when the building was later renovated, and can still be viewed inside today’s more modern facility.
Congratulations to Jon Robert's on his first solo flight! Shoreline Aviation delivered a brand new Garmin G500 equipped Piper Archer LX to Jon in late June and immediately launched his Private Pilot Training under Piper's revolutionary "Ready, Set, Fly!" program. Jon completed his first solo on July 20th under the watchful eyes of his Flight Instructor, Timothy Helm. Jon and his wife are attending Oshkosh 2011 where his participation in Piper's "Ready, Set, Fly" program will be highlighted. The goal of the program is to make buying an aircraft and learning to fly easy and convenient. Shoreline is proud to be a part of this important initiative and to help prospective pilots discover the exciting world of aviation.
