April greetings from Shoreline Aviation!

If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s that Spring brings us renewed vigor and an eagerness to discover new and exciting experiences. And what new experience could be more exciting than learning how to fly?

A special time to embrace the blue!

If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s that Spring brings us renewed vigor and an eagerness to discover new and exciting experiences. And what new experience could be more exciting than learning how to fly?

Which is exactly why here at Shoreline Aviation we offer flight training by certified flight instructors and the opportunity to earn your private pilot’s license.

Take Kassi Slowey, for example. Kassi, both of whose parents fly, started taking lessons a few years ago. She got sidetracked and set lessons aside until resuming them this year at Shoreline. Head Shoreline Flight Instructor Mike Brown is training Kassi, who is close to flying solo. Kassi, who lives on Cape Cod, got her first taste of flying in a small plane at age 8 and is thirsting to get her pilot’s license.

We wrote a fun story about Kassi’s experience and bundled it with a few photos on our website. You can find her story here: https://www.shorelineaviation.net/news-article/shoreline-aviation-flight-training-student-embraces-the-blue/

And we posted video of her taking off in Shoreline’s Piper Warrior II with Mike by her side. You can see that video on our Instagram page, here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CrQPvECpMaz/

As you can see from the smile on her face after a recent lesson, Kassi is on renewed mission!

For some, like Kassi, the flying bug runs in the family. For others, it keeps biting until we scratch the itch and take to the sky.

Know anyone who’d like to learn to fly? Have them call Mike Brown at Shoreline at 888.291.5387 or 781.834.4928 to talk about our flight training program. There truly is nothing like embracing the blue!

Business Expo

Your friends at Shoreline Aviation want to be sure to invite you to visit this Thursday in Plymouth, if you’re around and out and about. We will be exhibiting at the hugely popular annual Business Expo put on by the Plymouth (Massachusetts) Area Chamber of Commerce. Over 70 exhibitors will greet 3,000-plus expected guests of the free show. It runs from noon until 4 at Hotel 1620 on historic Plymouth Harbor (180 Water Street if you want to set up your map).

Shoreline belongs to the regional Chamber. It has about 850 members from throughout the Massachusetts South Shore and upper Cape Cod. Its towns cover the southern half of the South Shore, including our town of Marshfield. We also belong to the Marshfield Chamber, which is an affiliate of the South Shore Chamber. That is based north of us in Quincy.

We enjoy participating in our business community, and Chamber membership helps us get out to new activities and meet more business people from throughout our market region. We just joined in a networking luncheon, and next month we’ll attend a popular annual event that focuses on empowering women in business.

If you’re interested in learning more about this dynamic organization, please check it out here.

BEST OF THE SOUTH SHORE contest

Thanks to everyone who voted for our Marshfield Municipal Airport as the best airport on the South Shore in South Shore Home, Life & Style magazine’s annual Best of the South Shore contest! Shoreline Aviation has served as KGHG’s FBO (fixed base operator) since 1981, and we appreciate all the positive feedback we received during the voting period.

The winners of the many categories will be announced in the magazine’s Summer issue, which comes out in June. South Shore Home, Life & Style is a terrific publication, a classy glossy magazine in full color, lots of pages, lots of articles about the region, and lots of advertisements of area businesses that rely on local patronage.

Much of their print content ends up online at www.southshorehomelifeandstyle.com, where you can be enriched with some great information and insight about the region each season while helping the regional economy.

Early aviators

We received nice feedback from our weekly tributes to female aviators during Women’s History Month in March. So, we decided to continue highlighting mostly early aviators – those fearless, daring masters of the sky who blazed trails for so many to follow.

Katherine Stinson was born in 1891 and discovered flying at an early age. She…

  • Became one of the first women in the United States to receive a pilot’s license in 1912 at the young age of 19.
  • Established a flying business with her mother in San Antonio, Texas, and it became one of the most well-known flying schools at the time.
  • Rose to national prominence during her exhibition flights across the United States and, in 1915, became the first woman to perform a loop. She pioneered skywriting when she attached flares to her plane and wrote “CAL” across the California sky in 1915.
  • Became the first woman Air Mail pilot in 1918.
  • Petitioned the US government to join the Air Service as combat pilot with her sister in World War I but the government declined their request. Katherine made fundraising flights for the Red Cross and Liberty Loan bond drives that established her in aerial public relations. Her fundraising flight raised $2 million after her multi-stop flight from Rochester to Washington DC. She became the only pilot ever to knit for the Red Cross while flying solo in an open cockpit airplane.

Stinson died in 1977 at the age of 86.

Chartering – who we are, what we do

Most of the recipients of this newsletter already know the many benefits of chartering flights. Such as, when chartering you get to fly with your party where you want, when you want. You can hold private meetings on the plane, and you can get to multiple destinations in just a day!

Did you know that Shoreline’s aircraft can take you to about 5,100 public access airports in the US? That’s 10 times the locations commercial airlines can go to. And that’s not including the many global destinations we can fly you to. What might that mean to you? Privacy? Efficiency? Effectiveness? Productivity?

Any time you want more info, visit us online here, or call Shoreline Aviation at Marshfield Municipal Airport at 888.291.JETS or 781.834.4928 and chat with our charter team. And you can click here for a charter quote: www.shorelineaviation.net/request-charter-quote.
